In America and all parts of the world, it is being observed that more and more people are suffering from micronutrient deficiency. Not only that but from cancers and diabetes. Here in the U.S., a big percentage of the population suffers from obesity. All the problems are related to the food being consumed today. If the food we eat causes problems, illnesses, and diseases, shouldn’t the food heal and prevent the problem as well? Many people are unaware of how beneficial food can be to our bodies. The right kind of food. Now it is more commonly observed that certain diets, many of which restrict meat and animal products, are the best thing to get them back to being healthy individuals. With restrictions in many different forms or the addition of the wrong kind of foods, people are certainly not doing their bodies any good. More health problems are being observed, and more people are getting sick. Instead of finding the source of the illness, individuals tend to treat the symptoms, not the cause. Medicine will only treat the symptoms. The food being consumed and the diet people take on should be the medicine.

For lunch and dinner, she focused on consuming mostly vegetables, along with some quinoa and wild-caught fish. She tried to avoid rice and pasta as much as possible.

“Only have a meal for lunch and dinner… Mostly vegetable salad… Some quinoa sometimes… Fish wild caught fish has been really good… Trying to avoid like rice and pastas.”

The Results

After making these changes, she saw significant improvements in her health. She became fully Candida-free, indicating that she was also free from bacterial and parasite infections.

Why is eating the right food so important?

 

The human is made of many cells that need fuel. This fuel comes from the food that is eaten. Our bodies regenerate, but they need the right type of food to regenerate properly that is why the type of food we eat is so important to the overall health of the body.  There is many different types of malnutrition. There is estimates that say that about one billion people suffer from protein deficiency and one-third of children under 5 years of age have stunted growth [6]. Unfortunately more than two billion people suffer from micronutrient deficiencies, and about two billion adults are considered overweight or obese [6].

 

The problem has to be treated from the root cause and that starts with what food is put in the body. Medicines will only help hiding the disease so people have to start informing themselves of what they need to consume to improve their health and avoid illnesses. The pharmaceutical companies fund research studies that will persuade people toward the wrong kind of alimentation. They profit out of the medicine people buy. That is a business that they are trying to keep growing. It will cost less to spend more money on healthy food than to spend money going to the doctor and treating a disease.

 

Why is there many people suffering from micronutrient deficiency?

With the rise of malnutrition more diseases are being observed like diabetes and heart diseases. The group of people that are more likely affected by these issues and diseases are the lower classes. Those of lower income opt to eat cheaper things and today most of the foods that are good for you are higher priced. Fast food places offer cheap meals that contain no nutrients and harm the body and even the food bought at the local grocery store is riddled with pesticides and hormones that can affect the endocrine system. Due to the buying of lower costing foods the obesity rates are increasing more and more through the years. Everything that is happening in our bodies is important; not just for our cells but for the resident microbiota that live in us. Vitamins and minerals that are obtained from food help healthy bacteria grow that will help with digestion and our overall health [3]. As people grow older the importance to keep a healthy diet grows as well because the gut flora is unstable and needs proper nutrition to be well maintained [2]. The body has a more difficult time absorbing nutrients and vitamins that the body need as one becomes older [11]. Elderly people tend to consume several medications which also affect their gut flora, digestion and nutrient absorption [1]. It is harder for older people to consume certain foods as well so there are many options that they can opt for to help the growth of healthy bacteria [3]. Consuming the right type of food will allow minerals and vitamins to be absorbed well into the body helping the bacteria and not just that but it can lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases [5]. The insufficient about of micronutrients that are taken into the body has been estimated to affect over two billion people on a global scale [4]. Malnutrition is deadly, the damage that it has on the body is not seen right away but it does affect health in the long run. Developed countries are affected by this as well, all of the population is suffering and it is partially due to the increase of it [4]. The food that people see in the store is not very good for the body anymore. It is better to purchase foods from local whole foods markets. The pesticides and added hormones found in local grocery stores will also harm people’s health. 

 

What food should we be eating?

 

  There are thousands of different options in the store when you go shopping right? The answer is no, and it is no because a lot of that food is harmful. The shelves are stacked with high fructose corn syrup, a sweet substance extracted from corn. That substance is harmful to our health. The medicine being purchased at the pharmacy is also harmful because they are substances that cause side effects whether the side effects are very noticeable or silent.

  • Whole Foods

 

  1. We need to eat whole foods. Foods rich is the vitamins, minerals, nutrients, proteins, and fats that our body needs. Food that is fresh from a farm and has been brought at the local farmers market. 
  • Protein
  1. Greens contain a lot of protein, fiber and iron. Some seeds are rich in calcium like sesame seeds, not only are seeds rich with protein as well they are also rich in omega 3, which is a vital nutrient for our body.
  • Healthy Fats
  1. Fats are thought to be bad for us but the right kind of fats can heal our body and make us stronger. Fats contain several minerals and vitamins that our bodies need. For example vitamin B12 which can be found in meat helps with our blood and many other things. The right type of fats can do us good but the bad ones we need to keep out of our diet. We need to moderate the amount we consume and avoid fast food and processed ones as well.

  • Fiber

 

  1. Protein and fiber are essential to regenerating your body. We need to consume many foods with protein like spinach and kelp for example. We need fiber to help our digestive system get rid of our waste and keep our body from building it up, which can hurt us in the long run.

The cause of the rise in these diseases is due to misconceptions about the diets that should be carried out, low economic status, and malnutrition. As our knowledge about the beneficial and right foods we should consume grow, we should inform other people as well. The pandemic that is malnutrition is due to the lack of information out there. The food we eat can be our medicine. Medicine that we buy at the store is harmful to our bodies. Going to the doctor will help you patients see what might be going on with their bodies but it is in their hands to take proper action to improve their health. The health of everyone is in the chemistry behind what is being consumed and action should be taken before it is too late and we start suffering from diseases that will be detrimental to one’s health. We need to eat healthy meals and get the proper amount of exercise.

“I came to Dr. Haque because when I would go see my regular doctor annually or biannually, he would put me on some medication and say that it would be temporary, but it would just continue and he said that I would probably have to take some other medicine to correct my ulcerative colitis. I went back and let my doctor know that I wasn’t seeing any improvements and he put me on another medication and that’s why I wanted to look at alternative medicine to see what else is out there for me so that I wouldn’t have to continue taking medication. It was a bit of a sacrifice to go on a diet that I wasn’t used to and I had to stop eating certain foods and start eating only fish and a lot of vegetables which was good for me. I did end up losing approximately 14-15 lbs in that time, but most importantly, it did end up correcting my colitis, so I no longer have diarrhea or constantly have to run to the restroom every time I would eat something.
